Sunrise colors glimpsed from the tent mouth as we rise, chilled and thrumming with anticipation. Breakfast is gathered, huddled around tin cups of tea and hot chocolate made with river water and staring sleepily over these hills we alternately take for granted, and gaze at in wonderment, remembering suddenly that where we are is perfect among so few perfect things. Dew pulls at the hems of our synthetic blend trousers as we hoist our packs and begin down the hillside, the swish of our footsteps lingering among the hush of branches stirring in a morning breeze, and the music of water filtering through the valley below.
